Adrienne is married to Jeff and they have a precocious 4-year-old daughter, Adelaide, named after the city in South Australia. The name Adelaide means “strength and nobility” in German.
One of Adrienne’s favorite memories was taking a group of Buddhist monks traveling with the Dalai Lama bowling for the first time.
Adrienne is exceptionally talented at pop culture trivia.
“Be grateful for what you already have while you pursue your goals. If you aren’t grateful for what you already have, what makes you think that you would be happy with more?” ~ Roy Bennett, The Light in the Heart
For Adrienne, her interest in behavioral science and medical wellness started at an early age.
“My mom worked in radiation oncology, so I volunteered at the hospital in middle and high school. I became very familiar with engaging with patients in need of support. Looking back, it certainly inspired me to go into the medical field,” said Adrienne.
Adrienne, born and raised in West Palm Beach Florida, moved to Tallahassee to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work from Florida State University.
Adrienne’s 15 years of professional experience are defined by helping people work through life challenges and behavioral issues, whether that be poverty, early childhood development, foster care, and improving mental health.
After graduation, Adrienne set out to work to improve the lives of others in rural communities in the deep south, beginning her career as a social worker in Tallahassee. The immersive experience provided a microcosm perspective into the challenges of poverty and early childhood development.
“The cycle of poverty prevents people from seeking their true potential. Breaking that cycle usually takes extraordinary circumstances and was often difficult to see. Yet, my experiences were deeply rewarding, as I helped those in need and – hopefully – provided some support and guidance to get their lives back on track.”
Later, Adrienne would serve as a high school counselor in Houston, child welfare and foster care prevention expert in Spanish Harlem New York, a medical social worker in the NICU unit of UnitedHealth Group, and a behavioral Health Coach. In her career, she’s enjoyed providing support in important medical and social service areas, from postpartum depression and designing mental health and wellness plans, to helping children and families with food security and eviction.
Yet, when she saw JOYN’s opening for a Behavioral Wealth Specialist, she realized it was the perfect opportunity.
“When I first saw the job posting, I honestly read it three or four times. I’ve never seen this before in the industry. Yet, conceptually, it’s similar what I’ve been doing — giving people the tools to live meaningful, joyful lives,” said Adrienne.
“Now at JOYN, I’m working with a brand-new audience and that excites me — creatively and professionally.”
Ultimately, she’s thrilled at the opportunity to be a trailblazer and provide enhanced psychosocial analysis to JOYN’s pioneering new Behavioral Wealth Management™ model to help further explain people’s cognitive decision-making.
“My hope is that I provide even more context and real-life application to an already revolutionary way of understanding our behaviors and how they impact our financial management — and the management of our life’s pursuits,” said Adrienne.
“When you make behavioral science and human decision-making a core focus, it can fundamentally change a person’s trajectory in life for the better,” She said.
“What financial advising firm is doing that? Nobody.”
