“My dad is my hero,” explains Gretchen Cox as she speaks about the upbringing she and her two brothers experienced following the early death of her mother from breast cancer. Gretchen’s dad raised three children while frequently moving from city to city due to his successful career and promotions with Volkswagen. “He always kept us going and motivated us to think positively and share in the decisions and chores involved in being an active, loving family.”
Gretchen spends her time with her husband Rod “cheering and screaming at the top of my lungs for our 15-year-old son, Preston, who runs track and plays football at River Ridge High School.” On non-game days, you’ll find Gretchen digging in the dirt and tending to her flower garden. “Many nights my husband sets up floodlights so I can keep going even when the sun goes down!”
While Gretchen joined the firm in 2018, 27 years earlier she had worked in the same building where JOYN’s offices are currently located. “From the 9th floor window I watched my (now) husband drive up to pick me up for our first date—he took me to Monterey, California!” Her friends tease her and husband Rod because he FINALLY proposed to her years later on the night they attended the Eagles “Hell Freezes Over” Tour.
Gretchen keeps up a brisk pace at the office, too. As the executive assistant for both CEO David Geller and President Matt Geller, Gretchen has a full schedule and a happy heart. Prior to JOYN she worked for 10 years as a Sr. Executive Assistant at Cox Automotive.
Even as she spends her days juggling calendars and priorities, she describes her move to JOYN as “awesome. I’m so happy to be working for this company, surrounded by kind people who are working with real purpose.”
