This self-proclaimed dog lover is a native of Jacksonville, FL and is in the process of becoming a dog foster parent for the Humane Society. “I love dogs, and I’ve always had a dog. Now that I live in Atlanta I miss having one, so my roommates and I decided to be dog foster parents.”

Maria is a graduate of Georgia Institute if Technology. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in finance in December 2018. Maria, oldest of three children says, “My dad started out in mortgage lending and that is how I learned about finance. I love organization and numbers.” Prior to JOYN, Maria was a pricing analyst at Invesco and CRM assistant at King and Spalding.

Maria has a fun and unusual hobby of ‘rooftop restaurant hunting’. “I come from Jacksonville where it is flat and open. I’ve always said that when I move to a big city I would explore, and I love rooftop restaurants. My friends and I have a list, and we plan to visit every rooftop restaurant.” She also just ended a seven-week study abroad program in Spain and Portugal. Maria says “it was one of the best experiences of my life. I was able to take a long weekend and visit Paris to see the Eiffel Tower.”

She loves spending time with her family. Maria’s parents still live in Jacksonville. Her brother Matthew is studying film at Virginia Tech, and brother Robert is studying finance at Xavier University. As part of family life Maria has helped her grandfather, who owns a vineyard in North Carolina, plant the grapes.
