We all crave security. We want to be safe and we want to feel safe.
The challenge is that we often measure our security in financial terms. We believe that the more money we have, the more secure we will be.
Unfortunately, the challenge is life doesn’t work that way. Why not? Because no matter how much money we have, we can always imagine a future catastrophe that could leave us penniless and vulnerable.
Real security doesn’t come from our wallets. Real security comes from what you have faith in and what you rely on as you face an uncertain future. Real security is knowing that whatever curve ball life throws your way, you will be able to handle it.
Are you having a hard time figuring out what it is you rely on as you face an uncertain future? Think about the last time you faced a difficult situation or personal crisis. What got you through that difficult time? Who did you lean on for advice or support? What personal qualities and talents helped you navigate those turbulent waters? What wisdom did you gain from the experience? If you rely on spiritual faith, how did it help you?
Chances are the same reservoirs of strength that served you well in the past will continue to serve you the next time you face a personal challenge. And as you let that reality sink in, my hope is you will understand and feel a real sense of security.
